Kevin Durant scored a season-high 39 points to lift the Warriors to a 122-96 rout of Oklahoma City on Thursday.
After a sluggish beginning of the season, the Warriors were in prime form and responded to the drama regarding Durant’s departure from the Thunder with an impressive performance, handing Oklahoma City its first loss.
The Warriors (4-1) shot 51.1 percent from the field and held the Thunder to 40.2 percent. Russell Westbrook totaled a season-low 20 points on 4-of-15 shooting from the field.
Golden State played Durant 31 minutes, including against the OKC subs late in the game.
After a Jerami Grant dunk which gave OKC a 29-19 lead with three minutes left in the first period, the Warriors responded with a 24-5 run to take a 34-34 lead with 8:41 left in the second quarter. Durant scored 15 of those 24 points – in less than four minutes.
